In 1980, His excavatory expeditions came to a halt when he contracted Hepatitis. Due to his weakened liver, it influenced his mental and physical health developing chronic fatigue syndrome. As a result, he couldn’t travel anymore. Despite, he mustered up enough courage to still pursue his passion. Soon, he started exploring Amazon Basin for various pre-historic artifacts and ceramics.
In 1990, he finally unearthed the real treasure. During one of his voyages, he was operating a motor canoe when he got sick. In the nearby village, some native Shipibo Indians treated him with a blend of herbs in the form of a tea. With the periodic use of that tea his previous symptoms also subsided which made him hit upon this realization what real Amazonian treasure was? Answer being its native flora!
Here’s when Dr. Nicole Maxwell comes into frame. Next he got associated with Dr. Maxwell who had an experience of over forty years with Amazonian medicinal herbs. In 1990; Florida, finally the Amazon Herb Company was founded by both of their collaboration featuring herbal products and cosmetics. Hence, John Easterling getting an agnomen – Amazon John. As of 2012, Amazon Herb Company integrated with a wellness company called TriVita, Arizona.
